Domesta Emmen Office
Domesta's goal was a circular design for their building, based on the philosophy that, as a housing association, they should set an example when it comes to sustainability.
.pet projectinrichters was ultimately responsible for the entire project. Studio Oak was responsible for the entire design, from the interior concept to the final design. ZWARTWOUD provided a bespoke interior. Intermontage was responsible for the reused and new walls and ceilings.
For this project, we used used and existing products as much as possible. Where these were not available, we supplemented them with reclaimed or recycled materials.
An example of sustainable applications in the building:
- Old floorboards from demolished houses have been sanded and reused as wainscoting
- With design studio Diggels, bricks from houses were processed into new tops for pantries and seating areas in the atrium
- The cabinet fronts are finished with bio laminate from Huis Veendam made from potato peels - a beautiful ode to the region
- For pleasant acoustics, acoustic felt from Efteling company clothing was used
- Where recycled materials were unavailable, solid wood and high-quality CLT were used as much as possible, for a healthy indoor climate and CO2 reduction.

You can find this type of recycled felt in the Domesta building
The acoustic panels are made from recycled Efteling Golden Touch felt, which originates from old Efteling company clothing.
