i-did is participating in Cirtex 2.0: The higher step on the textile ladder. Within this project, various partners are working together to convert regional textiles into high-quality materials and products that are in actual demand.
An important part of this is improving sorting. Cirtex is sorting textiles with increasing specificity by composition and color, creating stable textile streams for new applications. For instance, Cirtex has also started sorting solid colors that can be used for i-did's felt collection.
Within Cirtex 2.0, three product lines are being developed: solid textile panels for interiors, gradient and fire-resistant felt, and composite profiles for public spaces.
Our role within Cirtex 2.0
i-did is collaborating on the development of the solid textile panels and is responsible within the project for the development of the gradient and fire-resistant felt. Using our expertise in processing recycled textiles into felt, we are researching how regional textile streams can be used on a larger scale for new applications.
Ultimately, the project is not just about development, but also about sales: creating applications that are scalable and for which a market exists. In this way, we are working together on a stronger regional textile chain.
Cirtex 2.0 is co-financed by the European Union.
