Hot off the press: Limited edition i-did x Stoov® heating pads and accessories

We can finally share it. The collaboration between i-did and Stoov® is live! Limited edition heating pads and accessories are available in four popular i-did felt colors. You can now shop all the items, made from recycled textiles from the Ministry of Defence, KLM, and consumers, in the Stoov® webshop .

Joint mission

Stoov® and i-did share the same sustainable mission: a healthy planet is paramount. Not only is their practical heating solution sustainable, but their production methods also contribute to a healthy planet. i-did's felt, i-felt, fits perfectly with this. i-felt is made from recycled textiles, so you save textiles, water, and CO2.

Textile conservation: textiles that are no longer used are burned or end up in one of the now-famous textile mountains . By felting them, the textiles are reused. 3.2 m² of felt weighs an average of 1 kilo. So, per m² of felt, you save 0.3125 kg of textile.

Water savings: Growing 1 kg of cotton uses approximately 10,000 liters of water. Because i-did uses (almost) 100% recycled materials, the production of 1 m² of felt saves at least 414 liters of water, compared to the situation where the same m² of felt would be made from virgin material (calculated by Made Blue ). For every m² of product sold, Made Blue provides 414 liters of clean drinking water in developing countries in exchange for a donation.

CO2 savings: Because cotton is processed and dyed, the CO2 emissions per kg of cotton are approximately 10 kg. Burning textiles also produces CO2 emissions. The Ellen MacArthur Foundation calculated that 48 million tons of clothing are thrown away each year. 73 percent of this is burned or dumped. Of all waste streams, textile recycling yields the greatest CO2 savings. Per m² of felt, you save 3.5 kg of CO2.

Felt colors

Four existing i-felt colors were chosen for the collaboration with Stoov®: Thunder Grey, Defence Green, KLM Night Sky, and Defence Desert. Thunder Grey is made from dark gray consumer clothing. Consumer clothing is only felted when it is no longer suitable for both the Dutch and international markets. Only after extensive selection does it reach i-did. Defence Green and Defence Desert are made from old Army uniforms. By separating the dark and light uniforms, two beautiful colors were created that complement many interiors. KLM Night Sky is one of i-did's newest felt colors. A beautiful dark blue made from old KLM pilot uniforms. If you look closely, you'll recognize the gold strings from the stripes on the cockpit crew sleeves.

The Stoov® website has chosen the names Stormy Blue (KLM Night Sky), Moss Green (Defence Green), Marble Grey (Thunder Grey) and Dune Beige (Defence Desert).

We go way back

In 2014, i-did first connected with Teun van Leijsen, the founder of Stoov®. The first heating pads, used in the hospitality industry at the time, were designed and produced in the i-did studio. After that, i-did continued to develop and produce new products for Stoov® for several years, both from felt and other textiles. Almost 10 years later, our relationship remains strong. This is evident, for example, in the design of the brand-new Stoov® office in the heart of Utrecht, where i-did's felt interior is prominently featured. We're thrilled to continue our collaboration with a unique joint collection .
