The i-did Factory has officially and festively opened!

A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay echoed through the speakers, followed by thunderous applause. Beaming from ear to ear, the Factory team accepted the medals, shaped like stars. After months of hard work, they were put in the spotlight during the opening of the i-did Factory last Thursday. Around 300 guests attended the festive opening in The Hague.

The opening speech was given by Arjen Kapteijns, the alderman for Social Affairs and Employment. He praised ‘the example of people, planet and profit’ for the city of The Hague. Then the owners, Michiel Dekkers & Mireille Geijsen, took the floor. A lively speech followed about a bumpy road with a pandemic, setting up a previously unknown production chain with its associated shortcomings, and above all, working together to find new solutions.

After the official moment, it was time for tours of the brand-new Factory. Various groups of interested visitors heard everything about the machines that together create a completely circular felt chain. Meanwhile, there was a toast and everyone enjoyed all the snacks that the i-did participants had made themselves. We look back on this afternoon with a big smile. Were you there?
