The wait is finally over! The TILLVERKA collection by IKEA is now available in all IKEA stores in the Netherlands. This collection is made from remnants of Dutch IKEA textiles. Recycled felt made from these textiles was created in collaboration with i-did. In this blog, we share how this sustainable collaboration came about!

Circular collection at IKEA
The TILLVERKA collection by IKEA and i-did gives new life to old IKEA textiles. Creating this collection allows i-did to coach people who have not worked for a long time or have never worked, helping them develop employability skills and transition into new jobs. "Processing old textiles into felt is a well-known process in the recycling industry; however, i-did makes designer felt. The Utrecht-based company supports people in the Netherlands who have been unemployed for a long time." according to IKEA
ÅTERSTÄLLA collection
"We had a few temporary collections at IKEA before. This started back in 2016"
After a comprehensive audit in the following months, we were given the brief in mid-2016 for the first upcycling project: creating new products from discarded IKEA textiles for all Dutch stores! This upcycling concept actually came from IKEA Sweden as a solution for unsold textiles. The ÅTERSTÄLLA collection was born and was available in all 13 Dutch IKEA stores in November of that year! All i-did participants were invited to the launch at the Utrecht store. It was wonderful to see them take center stage; how happy and proud you can be when, after years of not working, you suddenly get to work on such a great project and receive recognition for it from IKEA as well."
We processed the remnants of the ÅTERSTÄLLA collection into felt and used it for our own collection in our webshop, among other things. The fresh felt color from IKEA Textile has fun neon accents, giving it a playful touch!

IKEA Textile & IKEA Coworker
We created two beautiful felt colors from old IKEA textiles. The IKEA Textile felt is made from remnants of our earlier collections with IKEA. IKEA Coworker felt is made from old workwear worn by IKEA employees. Beautiful bags were made from it to give to IKEA employees as Christmas gifts!
